Welcome to the second part of the cut phone line alarm here we will start to connect every thing up.

1). First off you will need to modify a old cell phone with one touch dial on it click here

2). Now as the first Diagram has all the parts on the diagram its self I don't need to cover it here and for the little timer circuit it comes with its own manual or if ready built you don't need it.

3). Now I will start with the little green circuit board first connect the two wires from the modified cell phone to the number 3 & 2 like in the photo below this is what we call a N.O. Contact when the timer runs out it switchers the rely and this is what makes the phone call you.

4). Now I have used a plastic box with a switch on the front this is to turn the unit on and off if I was at home I would turn it off as if I used my home phone for more that the timer was set for it would send a cell phone signal as I have a second line I don't need to turn it off only if I used my own phone.

5). Now say you live in the United Kingdom you would need to set the variable resistor on the green board to mid way if the phone rings for 3 min the unit would not activate.

The phone will stop ringing after 3 min if not answered and this would automatically reset the units timer again to (0) and wait for the next call now if you have a answer phone set this so it comes on after the second ring as most people only leave a short message under 1 min or so any way.

Now using a answer phone can be a benefit to the security of your premises if the unit was set to mid way and some one did cut your phone line the units timer would run out and send a GSM signal to your mobile.

Please note if you do use a Answer phone use a stand alone unit and not some thing the phone company gives you to take messages at the phone exchange.

Please also note the stand alone unit will work fine with a 3 socket phone adapter.

Steren 300-124WH Telephone Adapter Tee 3 Jack 1 Plug 4C Conductor White 3-Way Modular Phone Line Splitter Tri-Plex RJ11 Wall Splitter 3 Way Triplex Snap-In Jack, Part # 300124-WH

3 Way phone adapter UK model you will need to get your own from your own country.

Unit will cover the main GEM unit socket, Phone plug socket and stand alone Answer phone Unit socket. Please note to the right of the photo  below I only have the Gem's Units plug in the socket and the answer phone plug in the socket the middle is for the land line phone.

The GSM unit would inform you the timer had run out and sent a GSM signal if you allow the phone company to take your messages as soon as you phoned the number the unit is connected to the answer phone at the exchange would kick in and not one from your premises.

Now if you get a GSM signal from the unit try phoning the number the unit is connected to and see if the answer phone comes on if so you have been left a message longer than the timer was set for if not then your line may have been cut.

Things that may also affect the unit is down phone lines if on Telephone Poles down to bad weather. Here check the forecast on TV for the country or area the unit is connected to see what the weather is like.

Power loss at the phone companies exchange this is not a common problem but could happen.

Criminals cutting your phone line at the pole or under ground cables some way from your premises, keep in mind your phone line runs from your premises to the phone companies exchange.

Few criminals will target your Home, Shop, Factory or Organization just after cutting the phone line they will wait to see what happens.

6). Now connect the first battery to the switch and a second wire coming from the switch to the first circuit board + and connect the black wire - from the battery to the bottom of your circuit board.

7). Now with your second battery connect the red wire + to the middle of your rely like in the photo and connect a second red wire from your N.O contact on the relay to the power + number on the green circuit board number 5 and connect the black wire from the second battery to number 4 on the green circuit board.

8). Now how the unit works is simple as soon as the power from the phone line has gone or been cut the first battery switches the rely and as we are using a second battery when the rely switches over this acts like a switch this is why we want to add two wire to the relay from the second battery.

9). If you like look at it this way we connected two red wires to the relay N.O. contact when the phone  is ok there is no power to the green circuit but as soon as the power from the phone line is removed the N.O. contact now becomes a N.C contact then the red light on the green circuit board should light up and start the timer.

10). Now as soon as the timer runs out the second rely on the green board switches from a N.O. to a N.C. and this is what makes the phone call you.

If you like you could just use one battery to power two circuits but you would need to use a double pole relay for this.

I would all so recommend a mains plug in timer switch to charge the cell phone battery.

You will also need a double telephone plug adapter.

Please also note if your phone line did get cut you must replace the batteries as soon as possible the battery running the timer draws a current of 50 MA when activate when the unit is not activated the units batteries should last a very long time.

You could also use a mains adapter for 12 volts regulated but don't put batteries in the circuit if you are using a mains supply.

If you have any problems send me an e-mail and I will try to help out.
