Dear Badger Groups,
BBC Country file will be reporting on snaring on 2 March and is filming on the
issue on 25-26 February. If anyone is involved in rescuing or recovering
a snared badger, either alive or dead, between today and 26 Feb, please call
Trevor Lawson immediately on 07976 262388 at any time of the day or night.
There is a strong possibility of getting this issue televised.
Alternatively, if you have recently taken a snared badger to an animal rescue
centre and it is available for filming or is due to be released very soon,
again please contact me immediately.
Badger groups may also be able to help promote badgers through two other
up-and-coming series.
One is a BBC series called Animal 24/7. It is being filmed between now
and the end of June, focusing on people who are actively trying to help and
protect wildlife. The production crew is based in Leeds so is
particularly interested in activities in the north of England, but will travel
countrywide. Examples for filming could include protecting a vulnerable sett
with steel mesh, campaigning to protect a sett threatened by development or
rescuing and rehabilitating badgers that have been persecuted or otherwise
injured. If you have a story that might fit the bill, this time please
send an email to
trevor.lawson@redfoxmedia.com
and remember to include your contact details including, where possible, a
mobile number.
The second is being made by an East Anglian production company for independent
television (probably Channel 5). A presenter will be touring the country
on a wildlife 'safari', enthusing about encountering various animals. We
are looking for a good badger watching facility where the animals are used to
the sound of people and to lights. It will be good publicity for the
facility and for badgers so, again, please send me an email if you have any
suitable locations.
Very best wishes,
Trevor Lawson
