25/3/11 ANIMAL welfare officers last night appealed for help to track down sick thugs who set their dogs on a defenceless badger. The badger baiters struck at a woodland area in the west of Barrhead but were spotted by a horrified member of the public, who raised the alarm.

24/3/11 ICABS has complained to TV3 following the airing of a documentary purporting to present the "the truth" about blood sports in Ireland. In an email to the programme's producer, ICABS criticised the lack of balance and the fact that it was biased in favour of the blood sports enthusiasts

22/3/11 Anti-hunt saboteurs arrested after protest in Huntley. SIX animal rights activists have been arrested after an anti-hunt protest in Gloucestershire. Around 50 police officers and a helicopter attended the demonstration in Newent Lane, Huntley, after fears that it could turn violent. They were called by the Cotswold Vale Farmers Hunt after running into 50 protestors from the Hunt Saboteurs Association (HSA) on Saturday.

21/3/11 Poachers caught on land were illegal hare-coursing. Police caught two men and a youth poaching on land and involved in illegal hare-coursing, a court heard.

17/3/11 Russia Bans Winter Den Hunt for Bears, Countless Cubs Saved. New “Rules of the Hunt” legislation was enacted in Russia, which will effectively end the cruel hunting practice of rousting bears from their dens during winter hibernation and then shooting the bears. Often, this hunting practice left tiny bear cubs orphaned and the cubs would quickly die of starvation or freeze to death.

16/3/11 It looks like Los Angeles County didn’t want to wait for a national or state wide puppy mill law to go into effect.  On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance to protect animals raised by breeders or kept in pet stores.

1/3/11 PSNI and USPCA rescue County Down hunt stags. A man has been arrested after the USPCA and PSNI seized a vehicle and trailer containing two stags which, it is thought, were about to be hunted. The practice known as 'carting' is illegal and the hunting community has long maintained that it doesn't exist.
